Fall Conference is our main event and it takes place each year during the Thanksgiving weekend. We arrange buses to transport youth to the Conference from specific central locations. The elected youth council that plans this weekend find exciting and engaging speaker(s) to lead sessions on relevant spiritual topics. Every year is different, but each weekend includes many exciting things: from worship and service projects to dances and fantastic games. One thing we can guarantee at this weekend is a fun time filled with fellowship, friendship, and growth.
Theme: Becoming Human: telling the truth about violence and death enables us to live lives of justice, beauty and compassion.
Theme Speaker: Matt Balcarras
We face many seemingly unsolvable problems: climate change, the destruction of global ecosystems, massive inequalities of wealth, never ending violent conflict, the exploitation of people for creating cheap consumer goods, widespread mental illness. We are inheriting a wounded world. What does the good life look like under these circumstances? How do we not only survive but thrive given the pervasive & persistent patterns of living that have produced these circumstances? How do we not wound our world any further?
It has been said that there is only one way to live a sane life in the midst of violence, oppression and destruction: struggle. We must struggle for redemption of the world, and of ourselves. Despite the fact that our world may be in a new era of human destruction, the good life will be for us what it has always been. Living lives of justice, beauty and compassion is our struggle. This is how we will stay sane. This is how we will become fully human.
